BOWLERS from Group Seven took on an East Ham & District BA select side at Barking Borough Bowling Club, Barking Park, last week for the Arthur Wilson Trophy.

This is the fifth time the trophy has been competed for, in memory of the popular bowler who passed away in December, 2004, and was held on the eve of what would have been his 76th birthday.

Wilson's widow, Kath, and sons Mark, Paul and Barry are all keen bowlers, and took part in the match. Essex County Bowling President Keith Riley also took part, indicating the esteem in which the former Fleet Street press photographer was held.

For the record, Group Seven won the match by 115 shots to 110 shots.

The Essex County BA is divided into 9 Groups within the County.
The aim of these 9 Groups is to look after the County affairs of the clubs that come within the
boundaries of each Group. Group Seven consists of ten clubs and approximately 297 members
(As at 2007 Handbook).

These clubs are: Barking Borough BC, Dagenham Central BC, Central Park BC, Ford Sports
(Newbury Park) BC, May & Baker BC, Old Dagenham Park BC, Plashet Park BC, Royal British
Legion (Dagenham) BC, Salamander BC and Phoenix BC.

The Group Executive is made up of Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Secretary
Assistant/Competition Secretary, Group Selector and three committee members.
